21.02.08 - ABACUS in the GEAO Journal
The March 2008 edition of the Global Enterprise Architecture Organisation (GEAO) Journal of Enterprise Architecture has published a provocative article entitled "The Myth of Zachyphus" authored by Avolution and the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).In the article, Kyle Dunsire (Architecture Practice Manager of Avolution) and Dr Tim O'Neill (Research Fellow at UTS and Executive Director of Avolution) state "Since the dawn of mankind myths have played an important role as a powerful teaching device. Sometimes allegorical, they often contain strong moral messages and profound lessons about life. At best myths are timely and revealing, and the image of the myth stays firmly etched in the minds of those that hear it." Mr Dunsire and Dr O'Neill go on to "(playfully) repurpose and rename one famous and ancient Greek myth in order to start an exposition of deficiencies in the modern practice of enterprise architecture and suggest some potential improvements."

About Avolution
Avolution provides the ABACUS® solution which is unique to the enterprise and process
modelling space in that it can create multiple solution alternatives (architectures) and then run various simulations (Discrete Event, Monte Carlo etc) against each alternative for metrics such as Performance, Cost and
Availability. In so doing it can recommend the optimal path for investment, with predictive and quantitative certainty. More information is available at www.avolution.eu.
- Build any number of solution alternatives and views all according to a completely flexible meta-model.
- Analyse your architecture(s) for metrics such as; Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Performance, Availability, Agility and many more.
- View the architecture(s) and the results of any evaluation using advanced techniques such as; 3D, heat maps, capability spaces and trade-off diagrams.
